Equipment is a French brand that was originally introduced  in 1976 by Christian Restoin in Paris, inspired by the likes of Audrey Hepburn and Lauren Bacall. The idea was to take a piece of menswear, interpret it for the modern woman, and make it both soft and sexy. It was the first brand to really introduce menswear as womenswear.

After about 20 years, the brand tapered off as the owner went off to pursue other interests, only to be recently revived in 2010 by the same creative forces that are behind Joie and Current / Elliott. Equipment once again is a staple in every woman’s wardrobe (or should be), offering up the benchmark for the staple white blouse, and offering hundreds of variations in colors and fabrications.

If you don’t have one of these in your closet, you need to add one in immediately! My favorite style is the “Bret”, which has a single front pocket. I find this to be more feminine than some of their other styles.
