I know this hotel is “old news” nowadays having been open for a year, but regardless, is one of my favorite places to be in the entire world (shallow, I know, but it’s also an hour plane ride from my house).
The smell, the oppulance, the feeling you experience walking in the huge front doors makes you feel like a Barbie in a doll house.
Being originally from Las Vegas, and living there for a breif stint as an adult, I feel a deep connection to the city. I love the “old” Las Vegas. Casino is one of my all time favorite movies- the glamour, the oppulance, the carefree attitude… it really was (and still is) the last not-completely civilized frontier out here on the West, yet it is the most glamourous place to be outside of New York.
The pool parties die down in the summer and a different crowd sets in during the Winter months. The mood shifts, and a more sophisticated, serious vibe settles over the city, especially during the day. Swim trunks and flip flops are replaced with Hermes Bags, fur coats, and beautiful couples set on enjoying their romantic weekend away and looking hopelessly in love. You can run around in the highest heels, and walk around shopping and gambling with a bottle of champagne in hand and no one will tell you no (although they may be jealous). What a better way to spend an afternoon in the dead of winter?
Cheers to Las Vegas, one of my favorite cities, and to the Cosmopolitan, my absolute favorite place to stay, especially in the Winter when you are in need of a glamour boost!
